Description
Heterotic orbifold compactifications have long been studied as a starting point for string phenomenology. Explicit models containing the exact MSSM spectrum have now been built, and we can begin to study their dynamical properties. I will present recent work on moduli stabilization and dS vacua in concrete MSSM-like models. After introducing the framework, I will show how to compute the low energy 4D effective theory, which describes the compactifications. I will then describe its implications for moduli stabilization, considering all the bulk moduli. We find dS vacua, but so far they are all unstable.
