Description
Underlying Kolmogorov's theory is the idea of energy cascade a la Richardson's poem, where the local (in scale) interactions are assumed to be dominant. In turbulence modeling such as the Large Eddy Simulation, it is important to properly take into account of the energy transfer from large to small eddies. A discussion is given on the localness or non-localness of the energy transfer, in view of the data of high resolution direct numerical simulations of turbulence.
