Description
I will give a brief exposé, both historical and scientific, over the Linnaeus Excellence Center in Optics and Photonics (ADOPT). I will present my own reflection over the role of these centers in the Swedish research landscape and over the opportunities and challenges they offer. Finally I will present an overview of the research groups, various research directions and some research result the ADOPT center has generated over its brief 3 ½ years existence.
