The disk formation and its implications on light curves in Algol type
eclipsing binaries has been investigated. Further, it was to reveal the
existence of disks and disk-like structures with spectroscopic and
photometric observations. The prominent indications of mass transfer
between the components are the distortions in the light and radial
velocity curves, changes in orbital period and the phase-dependent
variations in emission lines. Spectroscopic observations showed Ha
emissions which are not expected in normal conditions; such emissions show
up when the mass transfer rate is high enough and in the existence of
disk-like structures. Indications of the existence of a disk has been
obtained with the aid of photometric observations. The most prominent
indications emerge from the ultraviolet excesses. Using these UV excesses
information has been derived for the disk-like structure in U Cep.
