Scalar modes of gravity: the blessing, the danger, the deception.

We will discuss different faces with which the scalar sector can present itself in attempts to modify the general relativity. It can give hopes for new physics and phenomenology. It can put the whole approach into the grave. It can give false clues to the general behaviour of the model. In particular, we will touch upon the recently proposed Mimetic Dark Matter, a version of bimetric variational principle and massive gravity.
