Description

The recently appeared approach of Double Field Theory (or extended geometry) allowed to rewrite low energy effective actions for string and M-theory in a duality covariant way. The price paid was the extension of space coordinates that now transform in a irrep of the corresponding duality group. In this talk we will cover the problem of dimensional reductions in this formalism and show that under Scherk-Schwarz compactification it naturally reproduces the structure of gauged supergravities.
