Description
CO2 capture and storage (CCS) is a way to minimize harmful emissions generated from the combustion of fossil fuels in power plants. Several routes for CO2 capture from thermal power plants exist, but they are all associated with significant efficiency penalties, or alternatively, they lack technological maturity. In this talk, Chemical Looping Combustion (CLC), which has a very promising potential due to low energy requirements for CO2 capture, will be presented. CLC will be described in detail, and remaining technological challenges will be presented.
