THz applications of superconductors (THz activity at the Experimental Condensed Matter Physics group)

Description
Superconductors are naturally suited for detection and generation of THz
signals because the energy gap of superconductors (~meV) lies in the THz
frequency range (note that 1THz ~ 4meV). In this talk I will make an overview
of research activity in the THz area and THz equipment at the Experimental
Condensed Matter Physics group at Fysikum. The main focus of the talk will be
on the potential of creation of high-enough power tunable THz oscillators based
on superconducting Josephson junctions.
