Description
The field of electrostatic storage of keV ion beams was initiated in the late 1990s with the ELISA ring at Århus University. Since then there has been very active developments of new devices spanning a very broad range of size and complexity. Currently three major facilities for cryogenic ion-beam storage are being finalized: RICE in Japan, CSR in Germany and DESIREE here in Stockholm. Last fall I gave two conference review talks on the science of atomic and molecular ion studies at electrostatic ion-storage rings and I thought it could be interesting to share this updated status of the field with you.
