Description
We analyze the influence of particle clustering on heterogeneous reactions in isotropic turbulence. Particles with different Stokes numbers, embedded in a turbulent flow field, are allowed to reach statistically stationary state. Then, the flow is charged with a passive scalar that is converted on the surface of the particles. Decay rates of the passive scalar are compared for different diffusivities and Stokes numbers and Damkohler numbers. Both diffusion and kinetically controlled sub-regimes can be identified.
