Description
In the recent years it has been suggested that formation of non-equilibrium steady states arising between two conformal field theories in thermal contact is completely universal. I will derive the conjecture by using both QFT and holographic arguments, and present the full evolution of black brane solutions in the presence of a fixed spatial gradient of temperature until the formation of such a steady state. I will finally discuss caveats and possible extensions in the search of universality in out of equilibrium systems.
