Description

The 3 satellite Swarm mission has been in orbit more than 2 years. The mission is expected to continue at least another 4 years. Two Langmuir probes on each satellite, part of the EFI (Electric Field Instrument), work more than 99 % of the time in a new mode involving a harmonic modulation of the bias. The probe current and the admittance at the modulation frequency are obtained, from which on the ground density, electron temperature and the spacecraft potential are obtained. I present an overview of the Swarm LP data, and show results pertinent to the plasma physics of irregularities and plasma bubbles near the magnetic equator.
