Basic idea The recent detection of gravitational waves has triggered a lot of scientific activity and a very large number of papers has come out in the last few weeks. It is close to impossible to keep of all the developments. Nevertheless, we will try to get an overview by asking researchers to briefly summarize (~10 minutes) a particular paper/aspect of they problem that they find particularly interesting. At this stage, this will be only very sketchy and cannot go into much depth. But if there is enough interest, we can go into more depths in later Extreme Objects Meetings (e.g. one of the very important implications of the detection is on our understanding of stellar evolution and black hole formation since the masses, ~30 solar masses, were rather unexpected). Plan (~10 minutes each) • Mini-summary of the orbital dynamics of inspiralling black holes (S. Rosswog) • GRB connection / electromagnetic counterpart (D. Begue) • Comments on the GM signals (M. Burgess) • Thoughts on the GW follow-up strategies (J. Sollerman) • Implications for BHBH-rates (H. Dereli) Hopefully, this triggers new ideas, maybe even real projects and the meeting can be extended for longer for discussions among those that have a deeper interest. Possibly to be followed up further in future meetings…
