Description
I will talk about the physics of Galactic cosmic rays (CRs)
with a special emphasis on the high-energy interstellar emission. The
data collected with the Large Area Telescope (LAT) on board the Fermi
satellite has revolutionized our understanding of the high-energy
interstellar emission and the distribution of CRs in the Galaxy. Direct
observations of CRs by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS-02) on board
the international space station with its unprecedented accuracy also
provide serious constraints on CR propagation model. I will review some
of the highlights from both instruments and discuss how this has
affected the development of the GALPROP CR propagation code and the data
analysis methods.
