Description

What reionized our Universe?

The nature of sources driving cosmic Hydrogen reionization remains uncertain. It is widely believed that star-forming galaxies have provided the bulk of ionising photon budget required to complete reionization. Recent developments have triggered a debate about the ability of active galactic nuclei (AGN) to reionize the universe. Using a large scale semi-numerical model of reionization, I will compare Galaxy-dominated versus AGN-dominated models in terms of several reionization key observables. Finally, I will provide an example of how future 21cm observations by LOFAR, HERA, and SKA can potentially constrain and discriminate between these models to complementing current reionization observations.
