Description
I will discuss how one can study thermalization and black hole formation in AdS3/CFT2 when translational symmetry is broken. I will first review the previously known case with translational symmetry, described on the gravity side by the AdS-Vaidya spacetime. Then I will introduce an analytic model describing gravitational collapse and formation of a black hole without translational symmetry, which can be interpreted as a thermalization process in a two-dimensional CFT where the quench has a spatial dependence. I will then explain how one can compute entanglement entropies in this model, emphasizing crucial points that are necessary for getting the right result.
