Magnetic reconnection in situ - space observations

I will give a short background of magnetic reconnection phenomena and what are the topics of magnetic reconnection that are addressed in a successful and efficient way using spacecraft in situ measurements. Particularly, I will concentrate on showing the recent results obtained based on data from Cluster, Themis and Cassini spacecraft. Finally, I will give a short insight into the future missions aimed to study magnetic reconnection - such as MMS and Cross-Scale.

This is a guest lecture in connection with the Nordita program on Turbulence and Dynamos.
