Large-scale effects in galaxy surveys - Robert Reischke (University of Bochum)

Europe/Stockholm
Description

Upcoming cosmological surveys will probe the distribution of matter over many scales. On small scales, fluctuations in the density become large while relativistic effects are negligible. In contrast, on scales approaching the horizon, relativistic effects become relevant while the density fluctuations stay small. In order to make sound theoretical predictions these effects need to be taken into account. This talk will discuss those relativistic effects in galaxy clustering, how proper observables are defined, how these relate to the standard matter power spectrum and how our local environment influences the observed galaxy distribution.
