In this talk I will discuss a new method that allows to study dynamics of open quantum systems. Inspired by the cavity method from statistical physics, I will show that a network of harmonic oscillators on a finite-degree random graph can be described in terms of a message-passing algorithm, where the role of messages is played by the appropriate Feynman-Vernon influence functionals. I will present the solution of the fixed point equations in the simplest ferromagnetic case, and discuss its physical consequences.
