In this talk I will explain how S-matrices emerge from the flat space limit of CFT correlators. Using tools like Polyakov blocks and analytic functionals, I will describe how the expected properties of the S-matrix like analyticity are characterized in terms of the CFT data. To illustrate the flat space limit, I will show perturbative examples starting from free fields in AdS2 and comment on the emergence of anomalous thresholds. If time permits I will discuss the relation between the dual S-matrix bootstrap and analytic functionals in CFT.
