In this talk we will study the quasi-hydrodynamics of a system with a softly broken U(1) global symmetry, both in the normal and in the spontaneously broken phase. We will first introduce the Schwinger-Keldysh EFT techniques for constructing hydrodynamic effective actions, and apply them in the relaxed and pinned phases of superfluids. We will then move on to study the relaxed hydrodynamics of the normal phase using holographic methods. In the gravity side this corresponds to a holographic Proca model in the limit of small mass, and we will show how to derive the boundary effective action by performing a holographic SK analysis in this context.
