JADES (JWST Advanced Deep Extragalactic Survey, https://jades-survey.github.io/) is the joint NIRCam and NIRSpec GTO team survey, designed to peer into the greatest depths of the Universe, while linking galaxy evolution from the peak of cosmic star-formation rate density to within the Epoch of Reionisation.  WIth one year of results we have provided the first spectroscopic confirmations further than what Hubble could see, found AGN all over the place, and a diversity in the galaxy population that could not be revealed pre-JWST.  I will present these while putting them into the context of results from other surveys that are probing the distant Universe.
