Title:
Stochastic fluctuations of ultralight dark matter in gravitational wave detectors
Abstract:
Ultralight dark matter is a compelling dark matter candidate. Recent numerical simulations have shown that it exhibits large-scale order-one density fluctuations due to wave interference. These density fluctuations could be understood as a quasiparticle whose size and mass could be of astronomical values. In this talk, I will discuss how these density fluctuations interact with gravitational wave (GW) detectors and the prospects of current and future GW detectors in probing dark matter density within or near the solar system. I will show that with a pulsar timing array and future GW detectors, we could probe a few hundred times the local dark matter density within the solar system.
