Description

We are excited to announce a special WINQ Seminar by our visitor, Dr. Achim Kempf from the University of Waterloo. In this talk, Achim will present a selection of topics from his past and recent works, ranging from how spacetime could be simultaneously both discrete and continuous, to teaching neural networks how to utilize noise in image recognition.

After a brief introductory presentation of the topics, the audience will choose which bits to delve into.

The juicy bits are:

   Noise Beats Noise through AI
   Integration is Differentiation
   Sound is Shape
   Discrete is Continuous
   Faster than Fourier

Achim Kempf is a Professor of Mathematical Physics at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. His field of research is the Physics of Information, with applications, for example, to quantum machine learning and quantum gravity. Achim has been awarded a Canada Research Chair and a University Research Chair.  He is an associate member of the Institute for Quantum Computing, a member of the Waterloo Artificial Intelligence Institute, a member of the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics and an affiliated member of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics.
