Description

The two most promising on-chip qubit platforms are superconducting qubits and spin qubits, based respectively on cQED and gated semiconductor quantum dots. These platforms each have a set of hardware determined pros and cons. In this talk I will address how combining the platforms into semi-superconducting hybrids opens new avenues for qubit design, and how one might share the pros and overcome the cons between the two platforms. Specifically, I will discuss the development of Andreev qubits - how they work and what they can - that exploit inductive coupling to cQED elements. Lastly, I will explain my own proposal of a magnetically protected semi-superconducting Yu-Shiba-Rusinov qubit.
