Description
I propose a generic Planckian bound on the lifetime of
"simple" operators. This is related -- but not identical
-- to the Planckian bound on quantum many-body chaos. This
proposal reconciles the intuition that quantum dynamics (and
chaos) is bounded by the Planckian time scale with the
behavior of free theories, disordered metals in the low
temperature limit, and disorder-driven metal-insulator
transitions.
