Description
In this talk I shall present results from several projects which involve study of generic features of thermal correlators in large space-like momenta. After motivating the study from the perspective of black holes and AdS/CFT correspondence, I shall discuss Wightman functions in a relativistic quantum field theory in this limit and show that these correlators have a characteristic behaviour at large space like momenta and they satisfy a bound. I shall give examples both in the weakly coupled field theories and in holographic theories and argue that these exponentially decaying modes are essential features of thermalisation. After that I shall discuss quench in a coupled system of vector models resulting in an ``approximate'' thermal state. I shall also discuss possible simple holographic constructions to understand this generic nature of thermalisation.
