Protoclusters Endgame: High redshift galaxy clusters as a cosmological Probe - Metin Ata (Kavli IPMU Tokyo)

Europe/Stockholm
Description

Exciting times for cosmology are approaching. Upcoming spectroscopic surveys will probe the Universe’s large-scale structure at high redshifts with several million galaxies. This epoch has been limited to detailed studies in numerical simulations only so far and thus will open a novel way to test the cosmological standard model.
In my talk I will present my recent work to forecast the fate of observed protoclusters in the COSMOS field at a redshift range of 2<z<2.5. Based on inferred initial conditions that reproduce the spatial distribution of the observed galaxy catalogs, I run NBody simulations to predict the late time evolution of these protoclusters and trace back their merger history.
