Scope

In collaboration with the University of Iceland, Nordita runs a "Visitng Master lecturer" program, which gives Nordita people the opportunity to teach courses on theoretical physics at the Master level.

The main purpose of this masterclass is to pass over the experiences and know-hows gathered by the earlier participants of the program to those who prepare to start teaching in Fall'23 -- Spring'24. However broader subjects related to teaching possibilities at Nordita, and distributed teaching techniques in general will be discussed, which  can be useful to anyone interested in teaching at Nordita.

Themes and preliminary program schedule

The masterclass will consist of short presentations by the former teachers in the program, as well as the panel discussion addressing the particular questions by the participants after fika.

Among the subjects which we will discuss:

• The ways to organize the course, home works, examinations, grading.
• Know-hows in remote teaching, various teaching techniques
• Specifics of distributed teaching and collaboration between lecturers and TA's
• Other opportunities to improve teaching skills provided by Stockholm University
• Particularities of teaching in Reykjavik in the framework of Nordita visiting Master lecturer program
