Scope
Understanding quantum gravity in closed universes is both relevant and elusive: relevant to a description of our own universe, which has positive cosmological constant; and elusive compared to our progress on quantum gravity in open universes like Anti-de Sitter space. Many different approaches are being developed to study quantum gravity in closed universes; this workshop aims to bring together experts from different backgrounds to discuss recent developments and foster collaborations.
We focus on three approaches to quantum gravity in closed universes:
• Holography and quantum information tools (e.g., complexity, baby universes, pseudo-entropy) 1
• Explicit inclusion of the observer (e.g., Von Neumann operator algebras, phases in Euclidean path integral, observer oriented thermodynamics)
• Concrete and/or lower-dimensional models (e.g., de Sitter JT gravity and DSSYK, the Liouville complex string)
Application/Registration
Registration to be considered for on-site participation will close TBD. Registrants will receive an on-site/remote participation confirmation from the organizers after this date.
