Moving forward with the AI discussion forum in the coming fall semester:
This spring, we have experimented with semi-regular discussion sessions, each focussing on a single topic which was introduced at the start of the meeting, with summaries of the discussion recorded in the shared document linked in the agenda. For the fall, we would like to expand to having occasional (max. once a month) seminars with invited speakers, as we feel that there are many topics where we lack the background knowledge for productive discussions. Preferably, these are new sessions separate from the OKC colloquia or ML WG seminars, but this will require additional organisers since Renske is currently the sole organiser. If no additional organisers can be found, then we would like to reach out to the OKC colloquia and ML WG organisers to see if there are synergies and if the workload for inviting speakers can be shared. We have an initial list of experts from SU and KTH, mostly focussing on AI in education, but more suggestions are very welcome. We will also continue with the internal discussions, since those are important for opinion-building and reflection within the OKC community, and we plan to experiment with the topic selection so that the discussions can build upon the seminars from invited speakers.
