Description
Quantum quenches (i.e. a sudden variation of the
parameter(s) of the Hamiltonian of a quantum system) will be
addressed using the Luttinger and sine-Gordon models. For
the latter, the exactly solvable Luther-Emery point as well as
the semiclassical limit are analyzed. By computing the
evolution of correlations following the quench, issues such as
the lack of thermalization due to the large number of
conserved quantities and the effect of quenching from a state
for which correlations are characterized by a finite correlation
length will be discussed.
