Description
Hidden Markov models (HMM) have been developed during the
'60s and '70s in the context of artificial intelligence, and
are widely used for complex tasks like speech recognition.
In fact, they are a powerful statistical tool for analyzing
time series of different nature. After a general overview,
I'll focus on some recent success in the application of HMM
to the paramount problem of free energy landscape
reconstruction in biophysics.
