Context

The workshop is organized within the framework of the one-month Nordita program running in the month of May 2008, with additional support from the KTH ACCESS Linnaeus Center . The workshop will take place at the premises of NORDITA in Stockholm, Sweden.

Content and scope

Statistical physics has recently applied been to understanding, analysis and design of large distributed information systems. These range from decoding algorithms (Belief Propagation) and phase transitions and typical-case hardness in combinatorial optimization problems to content distribution and dynamical phenomena on the Internet, to the modelling of distributed agent systems - Peer-to-Peer networks, auction mechanisms and more.

Format and practicalities

Registration for the PhysDIS workshop is separate from registration/application for the longer PhysDIS program. There are grants for Nordic participants, the deadline for application is February 29th, 2008.
