Description
I will report on some new theoretical and experimental
results for certain species of crawling bacteria. New
experiments show that the motion of crawling bacteria
display a multitude of different regimes. Both linear
motion, random walk, subdiffusion, and superdiffusion can be
observed under different conditions. I will discuss how
these regimes can be related to the peculiar pilus
retraction mechanism for the motion of these bacteria.
