Description
I will give an introduction and overview of Newton-Cartan
and Carrollian geometries. These geometries appear as
boundary geometries in non-AdS holography, in novel types of
gravitational theories such as Horava-Lifshitz gravity and
in applications to low energy physics such as e.g.
non-relativistic hydrodynamics. In the first part I will
introduce the basic ingredients of Newton-Cartan and
Carrollian geometries and discuss their appearance in
holography. In the second part I will focus on applications
to hydrodynamics for systems with dynamical exponent z>1.
