Description
The ratio of the OI/CI 1356 Å lines has been shown to move from a value of less than
unity in quiet Sun regions to much greater than unity in solar flares. This massive
enhancement suggests this ratio may prove an extremely useful diagnostic. It is
therefore useful to attempt to better understand the formation mechanisms at work
through radiative transfer modeling, and to examine the ratio in different flares
observed by the Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS).
