Description
A search for doubly-charged Higgs bosons with pairs of prompt, isolated, high-pT
leptons with same-sign charge is presented. The search uses the pp collision data
sample corresponding to 36.1 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected in 2015 and 2016
by the ATLAS detector at the LHC with a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. No
significant evidence of signal is observed and corresponding limits on the production
cross-section are derived.
The talk will focus on the analysis strategy, signal region definition and the
estimation of the main backgrounds: mis-identified prompt leptons originating from
either hadronic jets or secondary weak hadron decays, and electrons with
mis-identified charge. Finally, limits on the mass and the production cross-section
of the doubly-charged Higgs boson are set.
