Are you a PhD student or researcher interested in the study of interactions between light and molecular materials? Then you may also be interested in participating in MRPSS 2021 in Stockholm. The event has been re-scheduled to take place during October 4-8, 2021.

The school is organized by Trond Saue, Kenneth Ruud and Patrick Norman who have their backgrounds in the development and application of response theory methods in quantum chemistry. Applications include electric and magnetic spectroscopic properties of molecules, including linear and nonlinear interactions.

The five-day program will include comprehensive presentations of time-dependent response theory and electrodynamics. Response theory is explored in the time and frequency domains and with use of different quantum mechanical formulations. Electrodynamics is targeted towards an understanding of internal and external field interactions in/with molecular systems. More applied lectures cover presentations of linear and nonlinear optical properties, vibrational spectroscopies, UV/vis and X-ray absorption spectroscopies and birefringences, and magnetic resonance spectroscopies.

Warmly welcome!

Trond Saue, Kenneth Ruud, and Patrick Norman.

With the generous support from our sponsors, we can receive up to 25 students from outside the Stockholm region for which accommodation is free of charge for the period Oct 3-9, 2021. In addition, we can receive up to 15 students from the Stockholm region that are not in need of accommodation. For all students, we provide a copy of the course book free of charge.

To register for the event, send an e-mail to Patrick Norman providing a brief research statement (max 1/2 page) and a support letter from your supervisor. In case the interest for participation exceeds our capacity, we will have to make a selection based on this information.

2021-01-21: We have already received and accepted 25 applications from students with need for accommodation and can unfortunately not offer more people in this category. There are a few remaining seats available for students that can take care of accommodation on their own.

2021-01-22: Also the seat without accommodation are now all taken and, unfortunately, we cannot accept more applications.

2021-04-23: Due to the pandemic situation, we are forced to reschedule the event to October 4-8.

We are acutely aware of the pandemic situation. At present, educational activities at KTH Royal Institute of Technology are restricted and a number of measures are implemented. Please refer to this page for further up-to-date details. Clearly, we will only deliver MRPSS 2021 if it can be done in a safe and responsible manner for everyone involved. A final decision in this matter will be made no later than September 1, 2021.

Single occupancy rooms are made available for everyone.
