We invite you to join a Faculty of Science discussion focused on shaping the future of AI in research at Stockholm University.
The Faculty has launched a pilot year to explore the creation of an interdisciplinary AI Center for Scientific Research, with the goal of advancing discovery through the integration of AI across multiple disciplines. This Town Hall marks a key step in co-developing a roadmap for the Center, grounded in the needs and perspectives of our research community.
The Center’s envisioned goals include:

Identifying emerging priorities in collaboration with the community
This event will combine short, inspirational talks with interactive breakout discussions designed to surface ideas, challenges, and opportunities.
Breakout themes will include (but are not limited to):

Scientific Reasoning and Hypothesis Generation with AI
How can AI support the creative and analytical stages of discovery?
(e.g., large language models, semantic tools, literature mining) -
AI for Experimental Design and Laboratory Automation
How is AI changing how we plan, conduct, and interpret experiments?
(e.g., automation, scheduling, robotics) -
AI-Enhanced Modeling and Simulation
Can AI augment or even replace traditional simulations?
(e.g., surrogate modeling, emulators, simulation-based inference) -
Data Acquisition, Processing, and Analysis
How do we best use AI across the entire data pipeline?
(from collection to analysis, with a focus on infrastructure and reproducibility) -
Teaching, Training, and Skills Development in Scientific AI
How can the center support AI fluency among researchers, students, and staff?
These discussions aim to identify shared needs and priorities that will help shape the design and direction of a Faculty-wide AI Center for Science.
