Description
Most recent work on FQHE states focusses on their topological
properties, and take the existence of incompressibility for
granted. I will describe how recent developments concerning
the dissipationless "Hall viscosity" property surprisingly turn
out to be related to incompressibility properties investigated
many years ago by Girvin, Macdonald and Platzman, and
provide new insights into the quantum geometry of
incompressibility.
