Getting here and around

Getting here

From Arlanda International Airport

The main international airport is in Arlanda, about 43 km North of central Stockholm. From there you have a wide choice of transports.
  • Arlanda Express train, gets you to the Central Station in 20 minutes. You have to get a ticket from their ticket office or one of their vending machines, which you will find close to the elevators and escalators down to the station, and on the platform. Regular one-way price is 240 SEK.
  • Taxis. There are many taxi companies around Stockholm, the major ones being "Taxi Stockholm", "Taxi Kurir" and "Taxi 020". Some companies have fixed fares between Arlanda and Stockholm, and prices are usually around 500 SEK for up to 4 persons. Be sure to agree on the price before entering the cab! Most taxis accept credit cards.
  • Airport coach. This takes about 40 minutes to the Central Station. It makes several stops on the way. If you stay at "Stallmästargården", the nearest stop is "Haga Forum" which is very close to the hotel, and if you stay at "Hotel Oden" you can get off at "Norra Stationsgatan", and then enjoy a 10-15 minute walk. The regular one-way fare is 119 SEK. NB! You cannot pay cash on the bus! Either you have to obtain your ticket from the "Flygbussarna" ticket booth in the arrival hall, or get it from the driver using your credit card.

From Skavsta Airport

  • If you travel with Ryan Air, you will probably end up at Skavsta Airport, which is 100 km South of Stockholm. From there the only reasonable transport is the Airport coach, which takes 80 minutes to the main bus terminal close to the Central Station. The regular one-way fare is 139 SEK. NB! You cannot pay cash on the bus! Either you have to obtain your ticket from the "Flygbussarna" ticket booth in the arrival hall, or get it from the driver using your credit card.

Getting around

Stockholm is well equipped with public transports. There are special fare cards available which will give you unlimited access during a couple of days, but of course you can also buy tickets ad-hoc, in underground stations, ticket vending machines etc. NB! No tickets are sold on any city bus! You must have your ticket before boarding the bus, which you always do through the front door. For details on tickets, fares, time-tables and route maps, see the "Stockholms Lokaltrafik" pages.
