Description
We review a class of integrable irrelevant deformations in two-dimensional field
theories, focusing on TTbar-like flows and their geometric interpretations.
Some of these flows can be exactly solved at the finite-volume spectrum level using
hydrodynamic-type equations, which are closely connected to Nambu–Goto strings and
Jackiw–Teitelboim gravity.
We then discuss how related flow equations emerge in effective field theories of
nonlinear electrodynamics and specific modified gravity models in higher dimensions.
In these cases, exact solvability is generally lost; nevertheless, the TTbar
framework remains a valuable structural guide, suggesting geometric-flow
interpretations and links to Born–Infeld-type actions.
