The Symposium on Topological Quantum Computation has been organized ten times in various locations in Europe (plus one Australian off-shoot). The idea has been to bring together people from condensed matter and quantum information communities under the loose banner of "topological things". The topics have ranged from implementations of topological quantum computation to knot theory, from robust quantum memories to solid state implementations of topologically ordered systems, and from entanglement theory to the fractional quantum Hall effect.
