Dr Kenichi Nishikawa (Univerisyt of Alabama in Huntsville)12/08/2015, 09:30Workshop, August 10-14OralWe investigated particle acceleration and shock structure associated with an unmagnetized relativistic jet propagating into an unmagnetized plasma. Strong magnetic fields generated in the trailing shock contribute to the electron’s transverse deflection and acceleration. Kinetic Kelvin- Helmholtz instability (kKHI) is also responsible to create strong DC and AC magnetic fields....Go to contribution page

Prof. Nikolai Pogorelov (Department of Space Science, University of Alabama in Huntsville)12/08/2015, 09:55Workshop, August 10-14InvitedRecent simulations of the solar wind (SW) interaction with the local interstellar medium (LISM) performed by our team showed that the heliopause is the subject of various hydrodynamic instabilities which allow for an efficient, but spotty, mixing of the SW and LISM plasmas. The analysis of the coupling between the heliospheric and interstellar magnetic fields (HMF and ISMF) shows...Go to contribution page
